Hooray! I just learned that the fourth installement of Harry Potter (The Goblet of Fire) will be released Novemeber 18, 2005! I have some extremely high hopes for this movie as the Harry Potter movies get better and better as the actors become more experienced and more relaxed in their roles. We all the first one where the acting was wooden and dull? Well, I've found that it's getting better.
The third movie (Prisoner of Azkaban) wasn't very true to the story, but the new director is much better.
Info from itv.comMike Newell is directing the fourth Harry Potter and all the old actors will be playing the same parts. A new addition is Ralph Fiennes! He stars as Voldemort and I am very excited to finally see Voldemort on the silver screen!
Go here for screenshots! The screenshots are great. I especially like the one with the Hungrarian Horntail! I'm very exicted to see the Triwizard Tournament.
They're airing clips and interviews with the stars on the US network premiere of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
(Erm...could someone clarify that for me? Is it in the US that it's being shown or on the US channel?)
Keep your eyes peeled guys! I think this is going to be a great movie!

You know, this whole series is making me nervous. Not that I've had any serious complaints, but I'm always wondering if the next movie is going to seriously suck. The fact that they're changing the director again has me nervous. And the fact that they're probably going to either squish the triwizard tournament into nonexistance or fill the entire movie with it makes me feel even worse.

The first two movies were dreadfully boring. They were strange, really. The book "A year at the movies" has a small passage that sums it up best for me.
QUOTE( Kevin Murphy of MST3K fame )
It looked like a movie and sounded like a movie, and if you bought the theme cup it even tasted like a movie. My theory is that Harry Potter is a groundbreaking achievement for the future: a movie clone. It has all the outward appearances of a piece of entertainment without shouldering the onus of actually entertaining.
The third Harry Potter movie actually did entertain me, because it went for being a good film rather than being as boringly imagined and faithful as possible. With that director gone, I'm expecting more like the first two.

The 3rd book was by far my favorite, as such, I found the movie lacking, but only because my hopes were so high.
Now, one thing that's important to realize, is that was when the books started getting really long.. so they had to cut out a lot to make it work into a 2-hour film.
Unfortunately, Goblet of Fire was even longer, 7 or 800 pages if I recall correctly, so they'll be dropping even more content. They've kept the Quidditch World Cup though, pics are available if you look for them on the net.

Very true, paris, it'll be a shame how much they'll have to cut from this one. I didnt like the third movie much, i dont know why. Maybe it was the new director, but it just seemed sort of weird. And the new dumbledor sucks. I really liked the books though, and to be honest I dont think they should have ever been made into movies. I'll still probably end up seeing it though.

Isn't it about time to find a new actor to play Harry? The books are all one year apart, but the movies have bigger gaps, so the actor should be getting too old for the role by now, right?

Well, actually, the 4 main child stars had originally been dropped from the 3rd movie for that very reason. But there was such a huge backlash that they kept them on.
Thankfully, they are very young looking actors, but yes, I imagine this would probably be the last movie that the cast is together in.

That's two days after my birthday! Hooray, I can go for free!
I didn't really mind any of the first three movies at all, though, possibly because when I go to movies I go to enjoy them and don't spend much time analyzing them unless there are huge plot/logic holes. Those I notice.
Sorry, I lied, the second one, I reread the book the week before going and it totally ruined it for me because they didn't get everything exactly right, not for the acting. I learned to never reread the book before seeing any movie adaptation. Just a bad idea.

Pffft. Hollywood's renowned for having actors play roles which are 5-10 years too young for them. And now you're chastising the actors because they're 1-2 years older than the characters?

Tis true. Just think of every high school drama ever. Most notably 90210. If i remember correctly, the blonde curly head guy (sorry i dont know characters on the show) was like 30 when it ended

Big difference there... certain actors look younger, and, as such, tend to play younger characters. Anne Hathaway playing a 15 year-old in Princess Diaries, for example.
But in the case of the Harry Potter series, the actors are LOOKING older. Rupert Grint is over 6' tall and his voice is now deeper than mine. Daniel Radcliffe is getting pretty tall, too. He's lost most of the boyhood chubbiness to his face and his voice is deepening, too. Emma Watson's the only one who is still age appropriate, mainly because she was so much younger when the first one was filmed.

Ruperts character Ron is supposed to be really tall, read the books properly. The actors are still only 15 and they are confirmed in the 5th movie.
Any talking of old actors playing younger charcters wasnt Charisma Carpenter something like 29 when she started in Buffy, pretty sure she had already been in Baywatch.

I think that one of that main reasons why the storylines are popular- you get to see the characters grow as they progress through their schooling at Hogwarts...

yeah, the actors might be getting old for the part, but they can't really change them now ya know? it would just be too weird. and theyre not that much older then their charries.
I dont know, changing the actors would totally ruin it for me. and this post would make more sense if i hadnt only gotten an hour of sleep.

I agree. Now that they've gone into four movies, the actors ARE the characters. Anyone else playing the characters, and I don't think I'd be able to enjoy the movie. Those actors are the ones I see in my head when I'm reading the books (which I LOVE!!). I can't wait to see what they do with this fourth one!

Ditto. It'd totally screw my world up...after 3 movies, I'm just used to those three. Malfoy I could take or leave though.
I wonder if Sean Biggerstaff is gonna show up again...it sucks to think an actor is cute in a movie, then find out you've got the same last name. He's scottish too, which means it's even more likely we're kin...damn!

I agree too... you get to know the characters through the actors... like take Sahara. It wasn't the best movie, but now Dirk Pitt is Matthew Macanohay. So if there are other Clive Cussler movies made, I'd hope they'd bring him back.
