The other night I clicked on the link on the main page for Adventure Quest.
Was kinda fun but mostly helped me kill a few hours. Anyone here played before? Is there much to it? I mean a story line or interaction with others? Or is it just click attack, build char, click attack.. etc.?

I used to, but the server is always full. It probably isn't even really full, they probably fake it to get more people to buy the better accounts.

Same here. I've got a nice lvl. 34 character but lately, I can't get in. "Server's too busy" or some crap.

Discovered it over the weekend. Quite addicting. I'd be playing right now (until it was time for work, that is) if their server was up right now. Ah well.
Level 32, completed the mage quests, working on fighter.

Weird I never have a problem getting in.
I think I kinda goofed at first cause I was running around gaining levels but didn't know how to train my skill points so I didn't start doing that until much later. I just figured out how to train as a fighter too so I'm only level 3 as a fighter too. Wondering if I should start over or just go at it hard to catch up?

I've played it a bit. It's pretty good for deleting time from your life.
And as for L32 "over the weekend," I'm just bored enough to try it! I will give myself 4 days (since I'll be working away from computers for large portions of the day and night, I need more than 2 days) to get from start to L32. I'll clock my actual gameplay time (as well as time spent on failed server connections) and see how it goes!
Either success or madness will ensue! Gwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

So, quick update:
I started that character last night and, with less than 5 total hours of gameplay spent, am at level 21 with 5 of the mage quests complete.
So yeah, I think L32 over the weekend is feasible.
But I'm not done yet!

It must be easier to level up now. It took me two weeks to get to thirty, iirc. I can't even remember what level I am now.

May 11 2005, 02:52 AM
Whoo! It is doable!
L32 with all mage quests done (including saving Xanthy...whatever)
Total Play time: Roughly 9 hours, but I had HUGE strings of luck (never missed a search roll, for starters).
And, best of all, it really made time fly by at work! Yay for being diligent!
Psuedo-evidence can be seen here:
http://darkzard.battleon.com/aq-chardetail.asp?temp=4816292I recommend this game for anyone who likes turn-based RPGs, especially free (though the extra 15 bucks adds a few novelties that are fun).

What is this game? Is it kinda like an Everquest MMORPG sort of deal or is it one of those test based games.
Puncture
May 11 2005, 01:24 PM
It's a turn based flash game. Nothing near EQ, SWG, AC, etc. But for a free game, and especially someone on a 56k modem it's pretty decent.

Character sheetHow to level fast: go mage as soon as you possibly can. Use the guardian sword as a weapon, but use the mage robe attacks exclusively. You get the benefit of hard hitting spells and the guardian dragon special. No fuss, no muss, level quick.
Do this as your main form of attack until level 40. Then switch to melee weapons (preferably the guardian blade where appropriate) and your guardian armor where you're now averaging an attack and a half per round.
Fight in the arena and do quests. Use the gold to advance your stats as quickly as you can afford. Don't try to buy weapons and armor. Play in the wars, if you can get to em. (I can't reach it tonight on the beta server, unfortunately.)
Don't underestimate the power of the Guardian Sword. It's still my hardest hitting physical weapon if the resists are even. My Dragonfang Scimitar and Kayda Blade only beat the guardian sword when the resists are favorable.

I've been playing it on and off for a while now. I'm about level 60, a guardian, and I'm a Vampire. It's fun, but realy just as a timekiller. Mostly, I just do the Vampire quests, the Fighter/Knight quests, and the occasional Vampire Slayer quest (the irony is not lost on me). It's realy designed just to kill time at work or when you've got a few minutes between classes. Which is mainly when I play it.
As for adding avatars, click "My Controls" up at the top, under Personal Profile, click "Edit Avatar Settings", and from there, it explains itself.

Played it for a while... then I found out that it's not much of a community. You play vs. computer players, not vs real life players. It's just leveling up, earn money, buying arms of the most friggin' elements, and killing time indeed.
Never wanted to become a guardian tho... I prefer to play things like KotOR, and if WoW or CoH had a 30 days trial period then I might've given it a try.
It's either free online head-to-head or team matches (UT, BF2) OR individual RPG's. Leveling up which effects strength and arms type in an online game will make it very much not-interesting for n00bs who happened to get addicted one or two years later than 1000 other guys.

Assuming it is not to late to reply, I think it is kind of fun. The people who made it are always adding more, and yes, there are storylines. You dont start with one, but when you go on certain quests, you get into some.
So far, my character is level 65, and level 10 with vampire slayer, and ninja, and im on level 5 dragon slayer (wich I am working to finish,), and everything else is at least level two...I of course, have a guarian membership, and the 'blade of awe'.
Gomen if this sounds like I am bragging, but i just thought I would also tell of my character, as others have as well.....

I play AQ some too...my stats arent important as they are not as good as most who have shown theirs. Becoming a guardian really does make it much more worthwhile....How do you get a different race/subrace?
DarkShinigami4711
Oct 9 2005, 01:25 AM
As far as I can tell, race is unchangeable, and subrace is only the vampire/werewolf/werepyre set for now. For those, I believe you have to be a guardian, then go to Darkovia forest, chose either the vampire castle or the werewolf den, hit "accept the curse" or whatever it is, then you've got that subclass. As for Werepyre, you definatly have to be a guardian, and you have to also be either a vamp or a lycan to begin with.

i trump you all, my guy is uber, i made him a long time ago, but i didn't play for quite a while, and once you hit the higher lvls it gets harder to lvl, i have round 30 tho of xp and i still need almost 60 tho
what all do you have to do to get all the piece of the Blade of Awe? do you just go on random adventures and the treasure chests will show up? I have the template as well as like..the hilt of hte blade

You have to go travelling. Pick a direction, fight it to completion and you'll get a treasure chest. Usually gold, sometimes a Blade of Awe part. Not worth it, though. The infrequent specials don't come close to making up for the loss of the guardian's blade dragon specials. (You can, however, swap it back for the guardian blade at the tower, but you have to do this every time you log in. Meh.)

Oct 9 2005, 04:53 PM
i got it by random adventuring, and blade of awe is a pretty strong sword, and it stays one element, can't have you sword healing your foe by accident now can ya?
DarkShinigami4711
Oct 9 2005, 05:25 PM
Easy way to get BoA is to keep refreshing the page, loging back in and hitting "Battle Monsters" or whatever it is. The number of times you flee decreases your odds of finding something rare, so it's easiest to just keep starting over if you don't find the treasure chest. Of cource, that's if you just really want it without trying. I got my the hard way, but I thought I'd share the "quick and easy" method as well.
so you would recommend I stick with my guardian sword? I summoned the dragon three times in a row on one monter earlier...it was crazy, i didnt think that could happen
I also just hit lvl 50 and all of the sudden things are a lot harder...like the wizard tourney. I fought it like 2 or 3 times before I turned 50 and i beat it no problem. As soon as i hit 50 i got my ass kicked by warlic and his "Element lords"
DarkShinigami4711
Oct 9 2005, 06:39 PM
No, I recomend you get the blade of awe. It's got 30-something base damage, sticks to one main element, and can vamp HP or MP.

There are lots of other weapons that can do what the blade of awe can do when you consider they actually get their specials off once in a while. The guardian blade fires off that huge special more often than most swords, and it's almost never a waste of time to let it kick off. If you have a monster with heavy resists, however, you need only use one of your more focussed backup weapons, use a class armor with direct damage (such as the mage robes, if you fail to launch the special, hit the critter with an elemental spell) or switch to spells outright.
The blade of awe just hasn't been worth the effort of getting it in my experience (and it wasn't even that much effort to get.)
