I've never cared much about Superman. I always prefered Batman (though I'm not sure why those two are the big two to choose between). I'll probably see Superman Returns, though. Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor is pretty fucking sweet, and it's being directed by Bryan Singer who did the X-Men movies.


The plot even seems more interesting than most super hero flicks, because this isn't an origins story. We all fuckin' know how Superman got here. Superman Returns is about him coming back to earth after years of "mysterious absense", coming back to a world that has learned to survive without his help. He finds that Lois Lane has moved on, too. Supes has to prove to the world that he's worth two shits, and try to get his woman back - and probably save the world from blowing up 800 times in row.


Redemption! I love it!


They probably made the costume as good as it can look while still being the same old thing, too. The costume has always kind of disturbed me though, I don't know why.








And because it is related, there is an amusing Superman story over at Wigu this week.

Stupid pajama look I say.. wish they'd just dive in and revamp that costume once for all. Not gonna happen though.. dern purists

Yeah, at least with the Spiderman costume a few subtle mods made it looks cool and not just like something thrown together. Unfortunately, there's so little to work with on the Superman costume. So unless it's totally revamped, we're stuck with it.

How about some pants? Pants would be nice.

Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor? Sweet. I hadn't heard that.

And Jeffrey Rowland is a genius. Too bad he's dead and all.

As far as the costume goes, the black black suit with the blue emblem from just after he died might have been nice. If they're going to say he took off for ages and then came back, he could have at least picked up a new look while he was away.

Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther just reminds me of the beginning of Austin Powers 3...

Seconded, though I'm not as hyped for this movie as I am for say Batman Begins. I don't know why, I've just always found Batman a more compelling character.
