A very dedicated 4th Grade Teacher was attempting to teach her class some new words, no matter what subject she was trying to teach.
Today she was teaching Science - in particular about diseases and illness.
"The common cold makes you feel very ill, and is highly infectious." She explained. "Kim - give me a sentence using the word 'infectious' please?"
The child named Kim stood up and said. "Please miss - yesterday my Daddy told me a joke and I started laughing and then my brother started laughing because I was. My laughter is infectious!"
"Very good, Kim. Darren - give me another word that means 'infectious', please?"
As Kim sat down, Danny stood up. "Please miss - another word for infectious is 'contagious', miss!"
"Very good, Darren. Johnny, stand up and give me a sentence using the word 'contagious', please."
Little Johnny thought for a moment, then stood up.
"Please miss - the other day my Daddy was driving me to school and we stopped at some traffic lights. A man in a truck behind us didn't see us stop and slammed on his brakes; he didn't crash into us, but the jolt made all the vegetables in the back of his truck fall out into the road, and as we drove away my Daddy said that it would take that contagious to pick up all his things!"
