A man is recovering after a frozen sausage was thrown through the window of his car, breaking his nose.
The man who has not been named was driving near his South Woodham Ferrers home in Essex when the incident occurred.
An ambulance service spokesman said: "The man said he was making his way home after work and had the window down because it was such a nice afternoon. He said he saw a car coming the other way and felt a searing pain in his nose. He managed to stop his car without hitting anyone else."
The spokesman added: "I feel very sorry for him - it must have been an incredibly lucky or unlucky shot to get the sausage through a moving car window. I have never seen or heard of anything like this before."
Police are investigating the incident reports BBC online.

A tram-crazy Australian teenager was arrested after he stole one from a depot and stopped to pick up passengers.
The teenager stile a tram from a depot in Melbourne and went on a 30-minute joyride before police caught up with him.
Police described him as 'a nice lad', and say they hope he can eventually pursue his dream of becoming a tram driver, if he stays out of trouble.
Constable Barry Hill said: "He's a nice lad, he's a good lad. I think his obsession just got the better of him.
"It appears that this young lad has been travelling around on the trams for some time and has been observing the drivers and observing the operating procedures."
The unnamed youth was arrested after police cut the electricity to the stolen tram.
He has been charged with endangering the lives of passengers and the separate theft of another tram earlier this month. He was released on bail to face a Victoria state children's court in June.

An Indian teenager spent two days in a well to persuade his parents to find him a bride.
Rajesh, from Latki in Jharkhand, was desperate to wed because all his friends were already married.
The 18-year-old was reportedly peeved with his parents' lack of interest in arranging his marriage.
He therefore plunged into a well and threatened to give up his life if his parents did not arrange for a bride for him.
The boy's parents accepted a marriage proposal from a family from a neighbouring village.
United News of India reports the youngster emerged from the well after 48 hours and the marriage was solemnised at a Hindu temple in the presence of several villagers.
