A German man with a longheld grudge against a dentist tried to run him over - but got the wrong dentist.

The 47-year-old, from Bielefeld, hated the dentist after he allegedly pulled out the wrong teeth in 1992, and then botched the repair work.

The anger boiled over after a heavy drinking session, and the man climbed into his car to drive to the dental surgery and tell the dentist what he thought of him.

But he mixed up his dentist with another dentist who, by chance, was leaving the surgery after work, and on the spur of the moment decided to run him down.

Police said it was a miracle that the injured man suffered only cuts and bruises and had not been killed.

The defendant admitted to trying to kill him and said: "I hate him deeply. I've been in pain for years since he worked on my teeth."

The man is now facing charges of attempted manslaughter and grievous bodily harm.

One dentist I had retired through ill health (bad heart) right in the middle of replacing my filling. Mouth wide open - drill going - "I'm sorry, I'm not feeling too well. I'm going to have to stop here."

At least he had the good sense to stop before taking out too much and turning it into an emergency that needed immediate repair somewhere else.

He should have waited - everyone knows that dentists have the highest rate of suicide of all professionals. Dentist probably would have killed himself eventually.

Also, I hate going to the dentist for checkups because more than getting fillings or other work done, I absolutely hate when they use that scrapey thing to clean my teeth. That scraping sound and the feeling that goes with it is just the worst sensation that isn't actual pain, its like nails down a chalkboard to me - but in my mouth.

My dentist used that scrapey thingand cut my gum with it. It took two weeks to heal, all throughout which I was unable to eat anything chewy, because it was right near the joint in the back.
