Wanted to both put up a request for and at the same time guage the interest here at LCID for a "Movie Review" forum.

I know we have a Movie forum currently which contains any and everything regarding movies (and I mean any & every ) but wouldn't it be nice to have a separate forum where posters put their own reviews about a movie they've recently seen.

The benifit to this would be that people could come to the Movie review forum and not have to dig through endless posts to read up on the latest movies out. Yes i know there's a search function but the added convenience of browsing though movies you might not have even considered would be there.

Anyway, just a thought. Not sure how it would go and there'd be the inevitable dissapointment with clicking on a post to a movie only to read "This movie sucked.. or this movie was great" and that's it. Not to mention spoilers and what not but I think inspite of the draw backs this could be a good addition to the forums.

I voted yes, not that I think it "NEEDS" be to added, but might be nice.

I said no. Reviews work fine as is. If you're afraid of them getting lost, maybe a mod could sticky them for the first week or so. I really don't think we get enough reviews as it is to justify an entire new forum.

I see this as sorta the cart before the horse. I'm hoping that having a separate forum for just Movie Reviews, might just drive the increase in this type of post.. dunno.

I voted "Yes" too. I agree with Waycos though, it's not "Needed" but if it isn't too much trouble to set up it would be nice.

The process of choosing a Movie Mod. has not been forgotten, and once someone reliable is in place chances are things like Reviews will be Stickied for a few days, so that they're easy to find.

In other words, there's definately no need to create a new Thread while this one isn't working at capacity yet. Give it time, and you might like what you see

I think it's fine how it is.

The sticky for a few days point keeps coming up here.. which leaves me confused. Does everyone get a chance to see all the movies they are planning on seeing in just a few days? Just seems much easier if say I've just found out I've got a free weekend coming up and figure I'll catch a couple of movies. Hey why don't I head to the Movie Review forum and see what folks are recommending.

I don't really see the need for two at all. I like the convenience of being able to discuss anything and everything about movies in one place. Going to a different section of the forums to comment on specific movies just seems excessive. If someone reviews a new movie, it won't vanish off the face of the earth if anyone else is interested in it, because replies will push it back up if anyone else has seen it and has an opinion on it.

I'd rather only have to check one place to see everything people have to say about movies, so my vote went to "No".

Pointless. Having a review board and a "hype/____EST MOVIE EVARZ" board would suck ass.

There is really no need for another forum just for movie reviews. The reviews will be in here, and they can easily be looked for. What CAN be done is have the new mod put "Movie Review" as part of the title, and then it can easily be searched for.

Adding a new forum for a new serious topic of discussion is something that can always be considered. May not happen, but it can be considered. Adding a new forum for the same topic as one that already exists will most likely NOT be considered, let alone happen. If it started with one, then it would end up being with all of them.

So.... If you put up a movie review, put in the title that it's a movie review, and we'll make sure the new mod does the same thing. That way, it'll be easier to search just those out.

I've noticed that this forum has more individual topics than others I've gone into. So, there's not NEARLY as much searching here as there would be on other sites. We do what we can, guys, but having multiple forums for each topic just isn't likely to happen.

I vote no. We don't need it. Reviews work fine her as is.

...Besides, we do this, we'll be adding forums for every little thing. "The Botulism Forum," "The Taxidermy Forum," and "The Voltron Discussion Forum" won't be far behind this one.
