Aye, half the time they're just totally unwatchable - I was trying to watch a copy of Eternal Sunshine the other day on which the audio track was an entire minute out-of-synch with the rest of the film. Plus the subtitles apparently could not be turned off and were appallingly inaccurate. Irritating, although not much, because, fortunately, the film was quite dull anyway.

now see i liked that movie well at least the non bootleg version lol but it didn t quite hit me the whole plot untill after the buzz wore off try that it might help lol

Um, go see the movie in a theatre?

Steal if you must, but don't turn around and complain about the quality of the video that someone illegally taped, and you illegally downloaded. Beggars can't be choosers, and all of that.
DrCBVI
Heh, I remember a copy of Shaun of the Dead (I had watched it a few weeks previous, but had forgotten most of the dialogue).

It was 'okay' quality. Then about 3/4 of the way into the film the camera went... *thud* and I watched it on its side for the rest. Quite fun, actually.
Aku Cola
That would be why I go to the theater as often as possible, and why our Netflix account is active as hell.

I just can't stand pirated movies, not for any real moral issue, just because they look and sound like shit.

And people judging movies on these horrible versions of them.. that just makes me sad.
Puncture
Never seen one.. never will.

yea i must agree with u in the fact of ummmm GO TO THE FEAKIN MOVIES AND WATCH THE FREAKIN MOVIE THERE!!! but ummm if u heardme right i do not sponsor and or purchase any burners myself but members in my household watch these crappy things alot and i am subjected to a good amount of the shit so i just was airing my thoughts bout how truely crappy these damn bootlegs are........base ur life on one quote and u live in the shadow of the man who said it...
Cybercat
These things sometimes are very watchable and sometimes awful. I don't mind if there's one bit where you see a shadow of some person leaving early, but if it's one of those copies where the camera is a bit tilted or something like that I don't watch. I used to be less demanding and even watched stuff with Thai subtitles or something like that but these days I don't watch the crappy stuff anymore.
angee923
lol cyber i hear u on the subtitles crap i remeber my and my boyfriend rented crouching tiger and the bad thing was we did nt know we would have to read the movie and we were freakin wasted so we said fk the movie and had sex instead:) wow

*Blinks* Where'd you say that?

Anyways, you do sit through them, so obviously they can't be all that bad. I've watched a few myself, although I gave up because they really are awful and annoying, and slogging through them makes watching movies a chore instead of a pleasure. However, no matter how poor the quality, it's a little odd for you to nit-pick something that was free. Particularly when you're taking money out of the pockets of the directors, actors, crew, and theatres to do so.

That's not me getting up on a pulpit, honest. I'm not saying it's evil, because I have a hard drive packed with things I've downloaded rather than paying for. But if I download a song, I'm not going to whine because the quality isn't as good as a live show would be. I'll just go see the live show.

I won't argue that living in the shadows of someone I've quoted thing, if it was directed towards me, because it just confuses the hell out of me.

It is very hard to read what you are trying to say. You should care, because I'm about ready to stop reading anything you write. It takes too damn long to decypher.

Spend an extra minute on your replies to make sure other people can read what you are trying to say. Please.

And use real words. "U" is not a word, and hitting two extra keys isn't THAT fucking hard.
Toomuchfreetime
That's what you get when you buy those bootleg DVDs from the 75-year-old women who go around selling them. I hate those people. They come into where I work, bother me, THEN they bother our customers. Our PAYING customers. The nerve, honestly.

...But I digress.

I never buy bootlegs. I never really download movies, either. It just isn't worth it to me. Too much of a hassle. I just go see it in theatres. Luckily, a lot of theatres I know offer refunds if you don't sit through the whole movie (not too many people know that, though smile.gif).
angee923
wow aku i must have really pushed your buttons there my bad lil one, i am very lucky to type at all really seeing i was at the time holding a baby but i guess just for you there is the word you were looking for i hope you really like it is it good enough for YOU???
Toomuchfreetime
I hate replying to threads before reading every post first, but I do sometimes. That's when I miss stuff like this.

First off: Stovieus is right. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are very good. They allows us to understand you better and reply better.

Secondly: If you're holding a baby, why are you typing, anyway? Wouldn't it be better to wait a little, then post when you're not occupied with someone who depends on your full attention? Otherwise, put the little nipple-biter down and type normally.

Now, let's not get into an argument anymore, eh? Lest this thread be locked.
angee923
i respect that fact man that is not a problem and i was not really trying to argue didn t think one would get mad about it but that s life and ty toomuch

I'm happy to say, I've never seen a bootleg. And from the sound of it, I'm damned lucky too!

I have to agree. Every one of angee923's posts ran together so much that I didn't bother to read past the first line. It's just not worth the effort to decipher it.

I'm just saying.

Try putting just a little bit of effort into your typing, and you'll receive far, far better responses. Honest. Just go back and re-read what you typed before you post it. Read it out loud. Does it make sense? If not, then fix it so it does make sense.

If movie theatres here would give me back my money if I left halfway through a movie AND if they wouldn't show movies half a year after they were released in the US (not all movies are delayed like that, but most are) I would go there more often. I don't want to pay $6 or $7 for some piece of crap. If I download a movie and I really like it, I'll go see it in the movie theatre when it comes out here. If I think it's crap, then I won't.
MissPeachi
I've seen pirated copies, and if I enjoy them as much as to keep the movie on cd, I will go out an BUY the DVD. Or, at least, RENT the movie.
I don't get to see many movies in the cinema, mostly because its an hour drive just to get to the cinema... and that's just a damn pain in the ass.
I do, however, rent quite a few movies and, if you don't like them, its not like you've actually bought the movie.

I agree with the others who've posted sofar... If you didn't pay anythign to see the movie, don't bitch about it. If you want to see a better version of it, there are cheap and legal alternates than watching pirated movies.
