I read today in a danish online newspaper that are normally quite reliable that a Terminator 4 will be created with Christian Bale being Conner! No word of the Govenator will appear though. Anyone that can confirm this? Or got other news? Anyway, I love the Terminator movies, so I'm exited. laughbounce.gif

I was just reading last week that Bale was the rumor but that there was no reports anyone had signed on yet. The only major news was that they would be starting their own video game company to make videogames for the terminator series.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is expected for release in either 2009 or 2010. According to an interview on February 1, 2005, Nick Stahl and Claire Danes will not be returning for Terminator 4.

On May 9, 2007, it was announced that rights to the Terminator series had passed hands from producers Andrew G. Vajna and Mario Kassar to the Halcyon Co., a privately funded company formed by entrepreneurs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson. In the Variety article detailing the purchase, it states the fourth film is now earmarked for a summer 2009 release and will focus on a 30-year old John Connor in what the producers hope will be a new trilogy. Series creator James Cameron is currently not involved with the project. Variety also mentioned that Warner Bros. has McG prepping the film.

On May 29, 2007, it was revealed model/actor Marcus Schenkenberg has signed on for Terminator 4. Also mentioned was that California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will have a 30-second cameo. According to rumors repeated on Moviehole.net, Edward Furlong will be playing John Connor. However, these rumors were proven wrong when it was officially announced that Christian Bale was in final negotiations to star as a 30-year-old John Connor or a Terminator.

On July 19, 2007, the film news site Dark Horizons revealed that the Terminator 4 project is currently in legal limbo due to a lawsuit between MGM and Halcyon subsidiary T Asset. According to the article, MGM has an exclusive window of 30 days to negotiate for distribution of the Terminator films. When negotiating for Terminator 4, Halcyon rejected their initial proposal, and MGM suspended negotiations. After the 30 days were over, MGM claimed that the period during which negotiations were suspended did not count and their exclusive period is still open. Halcyon is now asking a court for an injunction allowing them to approach other distributors.

It was announced in November 2007 that McG will be directing the first part of the new trilogy. The story will be written by David Campbell Wilson, John Brancato, and Michael Ferris, and it will take place after the events of T3 and focus mainly on the war between man and Skynet.

That's off Wikipedia, though IMDB is pretty similar. Basically, a Terminator movie without James Cameron or Arnold Schwarzeneggar that is designed to start a new Trilogy in the next decade or so.

I have misgivings, strangely. T3 was a good film but it's still downhill, quality-wise, and I don't think 4, 5 and 6 will buck the trend without the iconic names tied in.

Yeah no Cameron kinda is a letdown. Oh well I like bale, so who knows ....

I like him too, and I think he will be great in the part of "Grown Up" John Conner; passionate about winning the war, yet also coldly detached by the knowledge that he almost prevented it TWICE... kind of like Batman-Mode, but with machine guns tongue.gif

What worries me in particular is that, if Arnie doesn't play the robot, who will? I honestly think that the weak point of T3 was the person they chose to play the "Terminatrix", Ms.Kristanna Loken. Now don't get me wrong - very talented actress, worked very hard in the role, but ultimately she just wasn't scary.

Arnie? Monosyllabic, hulking big guy built out of slabs of beef. Didn't take much imagination to see him as just skin stretched over a man-shaped, yet dangerously strong machine.
Robert Patrick? Very flexible in the role that required it, taking on the right tone and demeanor of his 'disguise' yet always conveying the sort of cold menace needed in an inhuman killing machine.
Kristanna Loken.... looked like a woman full of special effects and a lot of wire-work.

They NEED to bring back the 'scary' Terminators, something big and intimidating in order to portray not just character (the robot) but the super-intelligent, globe-spanning system that guides it on with a single unswerving goal: to annihilate mankind forever. Personally, I think they should bring in the 'rubber skinned' Terminators that were mentioned in the first film - something very nearly human, but at the same time not quite right until it's too late.

That is the kind of creepy that is needed - we've already had Unstoppable Juggernaut, the Chameleon and the Puppet Master, so now we need to go right back to the beginning and bring in that which the Terminator films are about; Humanity and it's determination to survive, in the face of something that looks like it but is otherwise alien in every other way.

Well, one can dream, I guess tongue.gif

Couldn't agree more! biggrin.gif

I can sum this all up in one simple equation:

Bale = Win

This should be awesome, I can't wait! smile.gif

Oooh, very nice clip, Speedster - thanks! smile.gif

And that's exactly the kind of thing I wanted to see in a Terminator, right at the end of the reel. Granted it's not a 'rubber skinned humanoid', but I'll happily settle for a colossal, tank-like monstrosity of cold metal and lifeless red eyes. tongue.gif

The Dark Knight, Terminator Salvation... This is turning out to be a pretty good year for Christian Bale biggrin.gif

Uhh nice teaser biggrin.gif
And it looks like John will finally rise and become cool and not a whiny little boy (really hated how John was portraied in T3)
Waycos
I always thought it would be interesting to see someone else become the leader. And John convince them to use his name, so that when the robots went back in the past they would hunt the wrong person.

Saw the promo for this at Dark Knight. Looked alright... but then again, I absolutely LOVED T2... the T-100 (or was it the T-1000? I can't really remember right now) honestly scared the piss out of me.

I'm kind of scared that they'll further ruin the franchise. Also, whenever I see Mr. Bale I think Batman now. In The Prestige I kept thinking Batman, too.
