Thanks for bearing with me and my illness crew. Took a second trip to the hospital today and at least they felt I justified some pain meds, so those have gotten me back on my feet for the time being. As for the week, we'll just skip the normal Tuesday post and go with the Top 5.
Also, just so everyone knows, in addition to being a little under the weather, I'm also beginning classes this week so I'll be around as best as possible, but updates will be a little erratic, but short of my infection taking a turn for the worse they'll be up for sure.
Anyways, on with the Top 5. In honor of Transporter 2 which came out this weekend, this week's theme is Top 5 Car Chase Films. As always what constitutes a car chase is entirely up to you.
My Top 5:
1. Transporter > Why? Because the lead actor - Jason Statham - did most of the stunt driving himself. Plus some pretty orginal stuff here in my opinion.
2. The Bourne Supremecy > Lotta vs. Mercedes and the Lotta wins, very cool, plus some great action shots.
3. The Bourne Identity > Car Chases not quite as good as the second, but still some of the best to hit the big screen in a while.
4. Ronin > Tons of car action in this one, and lots of it impressive.
5. Bad Boys > I know, not a lot of traditional car vs. car scenes in this one, but I'm a sucker for good looking cars, and this film has plenty.

Hmmm.
I'm going to go with (and these aren't in any particular order, they're just numbered for ease of use)
1. Gone in 60 Seconds (love that Mustang)
2. Transporter
3. Ronin (Fun little European cars

)
4. Borne Identity (See above

)
5. I will edit this one in later, since I'm drawing a complete blank. Doh!

Not really my type of movie, but I like The Italian Job (both versions are good, suprisingly). That's about it for me...

I can't believe "Blues Brothers" hasn't been mentioned yet. That's the first one I think of when I hear "car chase".

Isn't The French Connection the one with the most famous car chase?

I thought that was Bullitt.
My tops in no order
1) Blues Brothers (old Ford cop car)
QUOTE
"It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"
2) To Live and Die in LA
3) The Bourne Identity (Mini)
3) The Italian Job (Mini)
4) Bullitt
5) Ronin (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Peugeot)
6) The Rock (Hummer, Ferrari, various police cruisers)
7) The French Connection (Pontiac)
I know more that 5 and two 3's but what can I say I love a good car chase and crash!!!

Blues Brothers and the Italian Job (original), can't remember seeing any others, though I probably have seen more at some point.

Ronin
French Connection
Bourne Identity
I like car chases that are realistic. Gone in 60 Seconds and The Rock were trash in that regard.

Gotta agree with drew - Blues Brothers defined the Big Car Chase.
Other noteworthies:
Italian Job
Matrix: Revolutions (that was the second one, right? By the time that marathon chase/fight scene ended, I was freakin' winded.)
Numerous Bond flicks.
I'm a little behind on my guy-oriented movies. Hey, it happens when you get married. I haven't seen Transporter, Bad Boys, or Bourne Supremacy yet, so I can't comment on 'em.

Does The Road Warrior or Mad MAx count? Cause especially the scene in the begining of Mad Max is awesome.

Hey, I'm always chasing Hummers in my Ferrari/Lamborgini (I'm not even going to try to spell it).

I must say the car chase in Terminator 3 was the only thing I liked about that movie. Who needs a mini if they can do a chase with a huge construction crane?

Oh HELL yeah. I forgot about that one too. Add it to my list as well.

I like the chases in Bad Boys II...
1. Crazy stoned Haitians throwing cars onto the freeway off that semi to discourage pursuit, where they bounce and do barrel rolls...come on. They put roll cages in the cars so they wouldn't flatten. "Ooooh that one puckered up my butthole!" --Will Smith's character (they're all interchangeable)
2. Bodies floppin' out the back of the mortuary van. And then they run over one and the head comes off. FUNNY SHIT.
That's just what immedieatly comes to mind other than the movies you guys have mentioned. "Use of excessive violence in apprehending the Blues Brothers has been...approved."

I know a lot of people didn't like the one in Batman Begins, but I loved it. =)
But Blues Brothers wins hands down.

:: Blues Brothers
:: Bullitt
:: Terminator 2 (Articulated Lorry vs. Moped)
:: Terminator 2 (S.W.A.T Van vs. Helicopter vs. 0.5cc Truck vs. Industrial Liquid :: Nitrogen Transporter)
:: Transformers: The Movie

I'm a soft touch for hugely expensive amd excessivley unlikely crash scenes, it seems

I was thinking of old movies and I MEANT to say "Masters of the Universe: The Movie".
I mean - Dolph Lungren in a leather thong flying around on a space-body-board? Hilarity all 'round

I know it's not really a "car" chase so to speak, but the chase at the beginning of Fifth Element was great.

This is awesome, three people talk about the car chase in the matrix two and then call the movie the matrix revolutions.
Reloaded was part two.
But, the original gone in 60 seconds. (not the one with Nicolas Cage)
It's not a great one, but it lasts for 50 mins. It is epic. I'm not a huge fan of car chases, so I don't know alot.
But, after the number one.. The Island, that was awesome. The matrix: Reloaded, gone in 60 seconds (this time with Nicolas Cage) and the car chase in Saw, just because it's so freakin' hilarious.

Inane you're right, the 2nd Matrix is Reloaded! I canceled the 2 crappy sequels from my mind just after seeing them! The only thing I remember is the car chase

(i love this small face)
